It is not sweet like an Aro, but it won't leave you smelling like you slept in a cigar bar the night before. as it is: upped to 4 stars. I like this blend and bought 2 another tins. So I was excited to get a tin of the re-issued blend at Christmas time. In those blends I found them overwhelming, smothering the blend. Much the same as the newer tin I'd had, but seems somehow more balanced, the flavours are better integrated. With a moderately loose pack, it lit on one match and was not overly billowy (if I can coin a term) and very richkly flavored. Be wary of anyone who can look over your shoulder when inputting PINs. A very nice tobacco, with not too much latakia and in my opinion, not bland at all. I have heard so many things about EMP that when I saw it at my local B&M I had to get a tin. Whatever the case, it's just wonderful. The only thing that I need to change in my review is to echo previous comments about the nicotine content being markedly higher. It has a normal tobacco smell, more like a rolling tobacco or cigarette tobacco, but with a slight smell of oriental and latakia. I must say, the blend is well named. No flavor dominates, but all contribute to a subdued but satisfying smoke. It's difficult to describe when it just strikes me as so very good. The nicotine is mild to medium, but closer to medium. I buy it by the pound. On escorted tours, the guides will generally sell optional tours to passengers who have not pre-purchased them. It burns well if allowed to dry some. I switch over to heavier stuff around 10am. I was originally upset over this, but felt I should give it another chance. And they are blended absolutely perfectly. flavor comes through. Gorgeous vaginias and orientals. The tobacco is a loose ribbon cut and the moisture level was just about right. Overall a recommended, balanced and very easy and enjoyable blend for everyone. Otherwise, what you have is a bland, dull tobacco blend. For its ease of use, speed and mild, smooth pipe smoking, this is a must for nearly every pipe user, especially those new to Pipe, but that doesn't stop it being a long-term part of any collection. Easy on the palette, but has a few harsh notes for a morning blend.. I've tried and smoked at least a 1/2 a dozen aromatics and always found them lacking something. A must try! Out of the tin may be a bit too wet, can be smoked but will probably burn, it's better to leave it dry for some minutes before smoking. I could smoke this in the morning on the way to work and not feel like I stink of smoke. I asked my daughter as I came back in to review the smell, and she admiitingly stated that she noted it as a more cigarette smell on my clothes, but said that during my smoking it it did not have a strong smell---only after the pipe was done did she note that smell. The town is home to a population of 10,000 residents and is located on 4.5 square miles along beautiful Liberty Bay, with the snow-capped Olympic Mountains in view in the distance behind the city's skyline. In EMP's case it's due to the particular cut which when packed properly produces nice clouds of medium strength slightly sour smoke which leaves many smokers just wanting to load up and smoke it again and again. For the less energetic or physically fit there are three Lake Cruises on Lake Quinault each day and a coach tour of the Quinault Rain Forest, which will give you an opportunity to see plenty of wildlife including black bears. EMP is a unique smoking experience as it contains all of the elements of what should be a strong blend, yet Murray's was able to pull back on the throttle just enough to give the smoker an "English" experience without being obtrusive. Mid bowl, however, the flavour settles down, achieving some nuttiness and strength but without entirely leaving the mild zone. My rating: Enjoy + Require buying Three and A Half Stars Rating due to its rough aftertaste in the mouth. I love full streanghth tobacos and was a little taken aback when I saw the medium-miled rating. The virginia isn't as strong as something like Rattray's old virginia, and the overall blend of other tobaccos in here make this really mellow, and I can empathise with the recommendation by Dunhill here as having this as your first bowl of the day. Not latakia heavy, but it's there and the smoke is kind of woodsy. But if I am seeking a strong nicotine jolt, this is a good one to go to. Optional: Full Day Montenegro Tour (AM) There is a certain sense of stimulation in the early part of the nose, but it is much weaker in the middle and later part. Notes: Alfred Dunhills blending has produced for this Early Morning Pipe a tobacco that will charm away the cobwebs-leave one aroused and eager for the days round. There is not much that I can add to discussions of its flavor or strength, besides that I would consider this a good "bridge" blend for those trying to get into English style blends. Mild, light, and a pleasant aroma. No need for re-lights as it burned nice and cool with no gurgle. This is dominating enough not to be entirely pleasant, to be honest, and takes one star off of an otherwise very good tobacco. Dunhill Nightcap is one of my favorite tobaccos, so I've been anticipating this blend for a few weeks now. This was a huge disappointment. I smoke this at least once a day usually in the morning. Good for me all day long. This one I judge reviewers by. Leavenworth is a year-round destination with an emphasis on outdoor activities. Until now, it is the best Morning pipe tobacco I have found in market. It made me wonder about many of the well regarded blends that i had not particularly enjoyed, and thankfully i revisited them, much of the time being newly able to appreciate their pleasures as if in possession of a recently acquired key to their trove of secret offerings. In general it is a good approach to be a fan of English blend but not that much of Latakia. Murray's version had a high proportion of ready rubbed stoved red virginas that looked almost dark purple.
